The Burrall Blog – Cowboy Joe, Where Did You Go?

In the title, I don’t mean Joe Glenn. I mean the Wyoming Cowboys’ offense. Yes, there are a new system and a new head coach, but the Cowboys’ offense in a 24-0 loss to Colorado was poor. How poor? How about 230 yards of total offense? How about only 13 first downs and 9 punts? Yeccch! Colorado, in starting 0-2, had allowed over 1,000 yards in their first two games.
Oh, and there were also the four 15-yard penalties.
Probably only the most optimistic of Cowboy rooters would have expected a big turnaround from the 3-9 record of last year, but 3 wins might be about what to expect this year, I’m afraid. Look, even the best defenses in college football can’t stand to be on the field for 35 minutes, as Wyoming’s defense was in Boulder.
The upcoming UNLV game may be a very crucial one for Dave Christensen’s first Cowboy team. The offense must be better, the defense must make big plays at the right times, and there must be more discipline, or this may be a very long season in Laramie.
